Two of others member...

Shota Yasuda of popular Japanese boy band Kanjani8 has undergone surgery to remove a benign brain tumor called meningioma.

According to Arama Japan, the surgery took place in February 2017 but was only just revealed publicly via a video message to Kanjani8's fan club members.

In April, Yasuda took a break from promotions with Kanjani8 after suffering a serious fall from dizziness, which left him with broken bones requiring three months of recovery.

In a statement released by Kanjani8's agency Johnny & Associates, the company said:

We refrained from making this information public due to the feelings all of the fans and related individuals had recently experienced in response to the number of KANJANI EIGHT members decreasing from 7 to 6, but we have decided to make an announcement at this time to avoid burdening all of you with any additional worries about the situation. Although there was a reason, we are terribly sorry for our inability to share the truth.

Also, the reason we are making this announcement now is that although Yasuda’s condition is improving, we have received large numbers of concerned messages from all of you, and decided we needed to inform you of the current situation to put all of your minds at ease.

Yasuda’s broken bones are healing well, but he is not yet fully recovered. For this reason, although he will be unable to perform up to his usual standard, Yasuda will do the best he can in his current condition on the group’s nationwide tour starting 7/15 Sun., “KANJANI’S EIGHTERTAINMENT GR8EST.” Please be aware of this when attending the performances.
